Name

The outpatient Breast Center was a fit-out of an existing shell space. The clinic is located on the Ground level of the recently constructed Wilmot Cancer Center. Its design was undertaken while the cancer center was still in construction, but both were able to open at the same time.

The Breast Center is planned in three zones: 1) Entry/Public; 2) Clinic; and 3) Imaging Suite. The entry consisted of a waiting area, check-in and out stations, and admin support. The clinic zone is the exam suite with a clinical tech area, nurse station, and physician charting area. The exam rooms are arranged into two pods – one with four exam rooms, and one with two exam rooms and an invasive procedure room. Also located within this zone are patient support functions that are shared between Clinic and Imaging zones. The imaging suite contains two mammography rooms, one ultrasound room, and one stereotactic table room. The imaging suite is supported by a pathology room and a reading room.
