The existing x-ray procedure room #5 on the 2nd floor of the Karpas Pavilion housed aged radiology equipment. The room is part of the large Radiology suite on the floor which contains two additional Interventional X-ray rooms, administrative offices, and patient support spaces which are shared with the newly renovated room #5.

The renovation converted the existing procedure room, adjacent storage room, and 2 offices into a larger procedure room with a new ceiling mounted, single plane interventional radiology unit and an adjacent 3-bed recovery suite.  Despite the low floor to floor height, new steel supports, electrical conduits, and ductwork from a new air handling unit were carefully coordinated in the design phase to fit above the new equipment.
