The University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry was one of 12 leading academic health centers to receive a Clinical & Translational Science Award from the National Institutes of Health (NIH).  The grant provided funding for a new facility that would serve as an “academic home” for the new Clinical & Translational Science Institute (CTSI) – a physical and intellectual home for both participants in research and investigators who conduct the research.  This new facility, the Clinical and Translational Sciences Building (CTSB), would be a 150,000 GSF comprehensive research building that would have flexible office space, outpatient clinic space for community research subjects, and public seminar and conferencing capabilities

The scope of the programming and Plan study included faculty presentations, departmental plans, comprehensive site analysis; campus utilities investigation; preliminary building engineering concept options for energy efficiency; an exterior design concept; and the development of construction budgets for the different scenarios.
