VUMC Department of Molecular Physiology & Biophysics
Type
The Molecular Physiology & Biophysics (MP&B) project involves the renovation of poorly-utilized laboratory space on the seventh and eighth floors of Light Hall, built in 1977. The program includes basic science lab space as well as the complete renovation of the Vanderbilt MMPC, one of only six NIH sponsored and NIDDK funded mouse metabolic phenotyping centers in the nation. B+MD was initially engaged to develop programming, planning and schematic drawings for submission to the NIH G-20 grant program. Though VUMC was not awarded the grant, B+MD was retained to develop the design. Working closely with the team of researchers, B+MD was able to develop a design and phasing strategy that minimized disruption of research during construction, which is currently ongoing with phase one having been completed. The MP&B project is part of the greater master-planning effort by B+MD to upgrade all floors within Light Hall. |
