VUMC Plaza Design
Name
As part of a waterproofing & structural repair project, the main pedestrian plaza, which provides access to the majority of medical center buildings at Vanderbilt University Medical Center is to be redesigned. The plaza is a roof over critical hospital programs, including cardiac catheterization and radiology. Green roof components and pervious paving were utilized to develop shaded seating and circulation areas. The design focuses on way-finding through the campus, and activating the plaza which connects the clinical and research components of the medical center. Approximately 58,000sf of plaza will be renovated to include new site furniture, bike racks, exterior lighting, an irrigation system, concrete planters and grade-level planting areas. |
